Canto-Corpo Workshop with Thays Simões

On March 22nd, the Canto-Corpo workshop, led by Thays Simões, took place at the Conservatório de Música de Loulé - Francisco Rosado. In this workshop, participants were invited to explore their entire body as an instrument, in order to enhance the final sound result. An introduction was given to the Cantar pra Caramba methodology, developed by soprano Thays Simões, during her doctorate in music at the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais. 

Thays Simões holds a doctorate in music from the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais and developed the thesis "Musicocorporal practices for the vocal preparation of young choristers". She is a vocal coach and stage director for the Associação Cultural Coral Os Canarinhos de Itabirito, working with the Os Canarinhos de Itabirito choir and the Studio de Ópera Canarinhos. She was the founder and vocal coach of the Canarinhos EmCena choir (2012 - 2018). She directed the recorder ensemble Doces Menestréis and conducted the Canarinhos Postulantes choir. She gave lectures and workshops on Choral Singing and Vocal Technique at the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (2018), Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto (2019), Universidade Federal da Bahia (2019), in addition to leading vocal preparation sessions at the Choral Singing Congresses of the Federação Nacional Pueri Cantores (since 2014).
