The Conservatório de Música de Loulé accepted the challenge of uniting visual arts and music, hosting in its facilities the piece "O Eco", by the artist Wesley Sacardi.
From now until April 3, 2026, whoever passes through the entrance hall of the Conservatory Auditorium (Solar da Música Nova) will find more than just a transit area: they will find an invitation to interact. The piece "O Eco", originally featured in the exhibition "O Ecoar da Matéria-Prima" held at the Roca Lisboa Gallery during Lisbon Design Week 25, finds a new stage to resonate in our Conservatory.
The Origin - The Echo of Raw Material: the work was part of an exhibition curated by Wesley Sacardi himself (artist-in-residence at "Loulé Criativo"), which aimed to explore the "Echo" not only as an acoustic phenomenon, but as a profound metaphor for artistic choices in the transformation of matter. The artist, who defines himself as passionate about free creativity and knowledge sharing, proposed in this exhibition a continuous dialogue between sound and matter, reflecting the creative tension between raw material and artistic intention.
About the Piece - An Analogy with Sound: "The Echo" symbolizes the raw beginning of the act of echoing, connecting different stages of transformation and establishing a direct analogy with sound. More than a sculpture to be observed, this is a piece that invites experimentation. Visitors are encouraged to interact through touch, by sitting, or by exploring the sound effect activated when inserting a mobile phone into the piece's upper slot. It is, in essence, an exploration of the "materialization of sound".
We immediately accepted the challenge launched by the artist due to the clear connection the work establishes with the musical universe. This initiative aims to raise awareness among our educational community about other artistic expressions, fostering the natural interrelationship between the various forms of art.
The piece is available for viewing and interaction in the Solar da Música Nova Auditorium. We invite all students, teachers, and visitors to experience this "layer of resonance," where raw material gains a new voice through music.
