On November 4th, a Music Analysis course took place at the Conservatório de Música de Loulé - Francisco Rosado with Professor Christopher Bochmann, with the first part dedicated to aspects of rhythm and the second part to aspects of 19th-century harmony.
The students of CML-FR had the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and broaden their skills with one of the most experienced and influential pedagogues in the Portuguese musical world.
Bochmann is a professor emeritus at the University of Évora. He was Director of the Lisbon Superior School of Music, where he taught and directed the Composition Course, having been a teacher to some of the most renowned composers of our time, such as Luís Tinoco, Sérgio Azevedo, Carlos Caires, Carlos Marecos, among many others. His contribution to the development of the discipline of Analysis and Composition Techniques in our country is inestimable, due to the number of teachers he trained and who, in turn, trained many more, and also due to the methodologies he disseminated, especially in the teaching of counterpoint and tonal harmony. His book “A Linguagem Harmónica do Tonalismo” is a reference work in this field.
