Let's sing January carols in the care homes, 2026

On the past Saturdays, January 17 and 24, our Conservatory went out to fulfill one of its noblest activities: "Janeiras at the Care Homes". Students, from various levels of education, toured all institutions and care homes in the municipality of Loulé, bringing with them not only melodies, but human warmth and memories.

As Director, I would like to make a very special remark about this initiative, an activity now in its 5th edition. On a daily basis, we work diligently towards the artistic excellence of our students. However, the "Janeiras nos Lares" hold a unique place in our agenda: this is, perhaps, the only initiative of the Conservatory whose primary objective is not strictly artistic.

The true purpose of these two Saturdays was not applause for musicality and virtuosity, but rather the promotion of invaluable human and social values. We believe that training excellent musicians necessarily implies training conscious, empathetic citizens who are attentive to the society around them. 

The tradition of Janeiras remains alive and, thanks to the fantastic contribution and sensitivity of these students, continues to be a privileged vehicle of affection, where the vitality of youth intersects with the life experience of the elderly in the municipality!
