The Algarve International Trumpet Festival (FITA) returned to celebrate its 10th anniversary, with the 8th edition on March 28, 29, and 30, 2026, once again in the cultural city of Loulé.
Organized by the Casa da Cultura de Loulé, co-organized by the Conservatório de Música de Loulé – Francisco Rosado and Cineteatro Louletano, and with Artistic Direction by João Mogo, FITA 2026 included activities for all brass instruments: Trumpet – Horn – Trombone – Tuba, which were divided into: masterclasses, workshops, concerts, conferences, debates, exhibitions, jam sessions, among others.
In this edition, FITA featured national and international artists with world-renowned and acclaimed careers. Among these were Gábor Tarkovi, André Melo, and Nuno Vaz as soloists in the opening concert with the Orquestra do Algarve, at the Cineteatro Louletano on March 28th, and Miron Rafajlovic with the Orquestra de Jazz do Algarve on March 29th, also at the Cineteatro Louletano. For the closing concert, TGB took the stage at the ASMN on March 30th.
The FITA Masterclasses were taught by the artists present at FITA: Gábor Tarkovi and Sérgio Pacheco on trumpet, André Melo on trombone, Nuno Vaz on horn, and Sérgio Carolino on tuba.
There was also room for the conference by Miron Rafajlovic and Moisés Lorenzo on March 28th, as well as the lecture-recital by Sérgio Pacheco on March 30th.
FITA 2026 proved to be a huge success, counting a total of 112 participants, many of whom traveled to the city of Loulé specifically to enjoy this initiative. It also received high praise from the artists and participants present, as well as from the general public who attended the concerts open to the community. In short, it was three days of sharing, camaraderie, learning, fellowship and, above all, good spirits! Many thanks to all those who made FITA 2026 possible and many thanks to all the brass players, from all over the country, for your presence! Continue to visit us in future editions; on our part, we commit from now on to continue providing lineups with artists of excellence, renown, and artistic-pedagogical significance!
See you next year!
Trumpet Greetings!
João Mogo | Artistic Director FITA
