On June 25th, we had Double Reed Afternoons at the Conservatório de Música de Loulé - Francisco Rosado. For oboe and bassoon students (double reed musical instruments), it is essential to know the process of reed making and maintenance, as these are essential for instrumental performance. The more experienced students were already able to construct their own reeds using their own materials. The younger students practiced assembling the reed, starting with the task of winding the thread (which, at times, can be quite confusing!). In the end, everyone learned a little more in the art of reed making. Special thanks for the dedication of teachers Ana Costeira (bassoon) and Daniela Pinhel (oboe).
