The Conservatório de Música de Loulé – Francisco Rosado made a prominent presence at the intensive seminar “Music & Dance for Europe,” which took place in Frankfurt, Germany, between November 5 and 7. Represented by professors Sérgio Leite and José Gomes, the conservatory's ERASMUS+ team participated in this important meeting which brought together 58 teachers from 32 music and dance schools, from 12 countries (France, Spain, Germany, Portugal, Italy, Latvia, Estonia, Belgium, Finland, Slovenia, Turkey, and Poland).
The main objective of the participation was the strengthening of partnerships that the school has already established and the creation of new bridges for future mobility and cooperation projects, which are fundamental for the development of its students and teachers.
Two successful presentations
The work developed by the Conservatório de Loulé generated considerable interest among the participants. The Portuguese team gave two very successful presentations. The first served to present the Conservatory, its context, its educational offer, and its dynamic history of ERASMUS+ mobilities, which has already included successful exchanges with partners in Verona, Seville, and Vienne, as well as the hosting of teachers from various European schools.
Such was the enthusiasm generated by the first session that, after several partners approached the team with specific questions and a “real interest” in the mentioned projects, it was decided to prepare a second presentation. This second, more detailed intervention focused on deepening the ideas of collaboration.
Four projects open to Europe
The focus of this second presentation was four signature projects of the Conservatory, which are now officially open to international collaboration within the scope of the ERASMUS+ program. These projects represent concrete opportunities for partner schools to send their students and teachers to Loulé.
The projects presented were:
FITA 2026: A major three-day festival (March 28-30) dedicated to all brass instruments, including masterclasses, workshops, and concerts with renowned professionals.
Festival MED 2026: An opportunity for students from partner schools to join the orchestra (and possibly the choir) of the Conservatory and prepare a concert for the Open day of Festival MED.
ANCIENT DAYS VII: A four-day immersion (June 30 to July 3) in historically informed performance, with instrument workshops, chamber music, Renaissance dance, and historical improvisation.
AFRICCIONADOS III : A three-day intensive academy (July 6-8) for bowed string instruments, focused on ensemble work.
A starting point for the future
For each project, the Conservatory's team detailed the specific opportunities, whether for short-term student mobility or for teacher job shadowing (such as observing masterclasses, participating in pedagogical debates, or even co-leading workshops).
The presentation's clear objective was "to give everyone a clear starting point for future partnerships", with the hope that some can start "as early as this academic year".
Participation in this seminar in Frankfurt proved to be a huge success, not only for solidifying the network of partners of the Conservatório de Música de Loulé, but also for projecting the school's image of excellence and innovation. In parallel with the presentation of the hosting projects, the team is already working on future possibilities for more student mobilities, job shadowing and structured courses for teachers across various parts of Europe.
The team returns confident that these new contacts will enrich the conservatory's pedagogical work and strengthen the institution's recognition internationally.
