Laura Sofia de Oliveira Ribeiros

I entered the conservatory in 2018, at 10 years old, and chose the violin, as it was the instrument that interested me at first sight and one I had admired for a long time. I did 5 years of violin, changed teachers many times, but from the third to the fifth grade, I was with teacher José Gomes. Although demanding, he was a very important teacher for my development and my musical journey. I feel that he pushed my capabilities and trusted in my potential. The violin is an instrument that requires a lot of autonomous work, but it is very enchanting when played correctly.
In secondary school, I chose to explore another instrument, voice, and I took the secondary singing course, in the supplementary regime. I did 3 years of German (I loved learning the basics of this language with teacher Fátima Gonçalves), 1 year of Italian (which is a language I continue to explore and practice). In addition, I did 2 years of keyboard instrument, where I learned the basics of piano, which was and is very useful. My journey in the secondary singing course was marked by many good moments and some less good moments, as is natural in any stage of our life; however, I recognize the influence that the Conservatório de Música had on my personal, musical, and mental growth, among others. From my point of view, it is an asset and a good experience that provided me with unique learning opportunities that regular school does not provide as effectively. I am very grateful, not only to the teachers and the director, but also to the staff who are always there to help, to offer a friendly word, and to lift us up. Thank you!
